Welcome to My Food & Happiness! My name is Monika and I am the founder of this digital food and travel world.
I live in London, but I was born and raised in Bulgaria. When I am not working on my food and travel adventures, I work as a Senior Business Analyst in the media industry. I am currently part of the magical Walt Disney company and I have previously worked for 20th Century Fox as well, so you can say that film is one of my many passions. I decided to combine my love for food, photography and graphic design with my IT knowledge and one day after months of sleepless nights I created My Food & Happiness. The site is now visited by tens of thousands of readers from across the world every month and is a popular source of vegan, vegetarian and pescatarian recipes as well as travel inspiration.
I am passionate about healthy eating and I love taking pictures of food that will make you drool. I am forever seeking the truth about all types of foods out there and the true meaning of a healthy and happy lifestyle. I believe that we should all be on a real food diet (free from processed food), without going to extremes and still be able to enjoy food we love. I am not a nutritionist or a professional chef, but I don’t believe you need a degree to have knowledge on subjects you are passionate about.
I don’t like to restrict the variety of food I can have, so I am neither vegetarian, vegan nor paleo, but I respect the views of each one of those diets. The best way to describe my diet is pescatarian. I eat mostly high-protein vegetarian food and include a few fish/seafood meals in my weekly menu. This is why most of the recipes on this blog are vegetarian. However you will find vegan, vegetarian and pescatarian (fish) recipes here. I try to listen to my body, without restricting it (well sometimes a bit of restriction is required when it comes to sweet treats).
I try to enjoy simple natural foods in a balanced way, not as a temporary diet. No calorie counting, just real food that is delicious and makes me happy. If I feel like pizza, I will go to my favourite pizza place in Soho and get a pizza (I love authentic Italian food)!

My happiness is TRAVEL! I dream of endless, crazy and beautiful trips. I love exploring new destinations throughout the world and capturing their uniqueness with my camera. I particularly love exploring untouched, remote beaches when visiting a sunny destination, like my trip to Sardinia, but any new destination sparks my curiosity and desire to explore. I also like to discover destinations through food, check out my Culinary guide to Aruba. I often do food photography and reviews for restaurants and hotels I visit.
