I am sure many of you will seize January as an opportunity for a body and mind detox and it normally includes lots and lots of smoothies! Well this Carrot smoothie with ginger, lemon, banana and honey is your new best friend!
We all tend to overindulge around the holidays but don’t feel like you need to punish yourself for this! Rather than a punishment, consider it a great opportunity to recharge your body with some delicious natural foods. This is way I have decided to create a range of new smoothies this month for you and give you a few fresh ideas for some great nutritious fruit & veggie smoothie combinations. First one on the list is this bright orange Carrot and Ginger smoothie for beautiful glowing skin and an overall great immune system boost.
Here are some of the health benefits of this carrot smoothie:
Beta-carotene & Vitamin A
Carrots are rich in Beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in our body. Vitamin A is essential not only for our vision but also for our skin. Dry skin, hair and nails could be a symptom of a Vitamin A deficiency. Beta-carotene is what gives carrots their orange colour and can also help with pigmentation problems and uneven skin tone.
Vitamin C
I am sure you know that lemons are rich in Vitamin C and I don’t need to tell you how good it is for you. Well one of these carrot smoothies will provide you with at least 25% of your recommended daily amount of Vitamin C.
Gingerols
Ginger contains highly anti-inflammatory compounds called gingerols. They are responsible for the numerous health benefits of ginger and have powerful antioxidant effects. Muscle pain after workout? Ginger has been proven to relieve muscle pain and soreness and possibly reduce the day-to-day progression of the pain so this carrot smoothie is a great post-workout drink. You can read more about the health benefits of ginger here.
